The Chicken in Trousers tea towel
“Richard put an 18th century chicken in some trousers.”
On the 6th October 2018, archivists at The Museum of English Rural Life discovered a sketchbook belonging to an eighteenth century child by the name of Richard Beale.
The book had been filled with visionary doodling, chronicled by us in a viral Twitter thread, that culminated in the astonishing depiction of a chicken (yes, a chicken) wearing trousers.
Buy a custom-made cotton tea towel featuring Beale’s masterful sketch and help support The Museum of English Rural Life. If there’s one thing that the world, and your home needs, it’s chickens in trousers.
