John Rylands Research Institute and Library
The John Rylands Research Institute and Library is part of the University of Manchester Library Service. It was founded by Enriqueta Rylands to commemorate her husband John (1801–1888), an entrepreneur and philanthropist who was the owner of the largest textile manufacturer in the UK, and Manchester's first multi-millionaire. The library contains some of the most significant printed books and manuscripts ever produced alongside collections of archives, art and visual culture.
