The Highlanders’ Museum is located within Fort George, the eighteenth-century fortress and working army barracks near Ardersier, to the north-east of Inverness. The Museum tells the story of the Highland Regiments from just after the Battle of Culloden (1746) to the present day. Also known as the Queen’s Own Highlanders Collection, it is one of the largest collections of regimental objects in the UK. The museum cares for over 40,000 objects including weapons, medals, and personal items such as letters and diaries, and artworks.
