Founded in 1822, The Royal Academy of Music is the oldest conservatoire in the UK. The Academy Museum opened in 2001, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and its collections of instruments, art, photography, and objects offer valuable insights into the creative processes of great musicians. Many of the portraits in the collection represent those connected with the Academy, as performers, composers, teachers and supporters.
