For just over a century, the British Government has collected works of art in a broad range of media. The Collection now comprises of 13, 000 works, mostly by British artists, which date from the 16th century to the present day. Works of art are on display in Government buildings in the UK and around the world. Bringing together all the oil paintings (some 2,500 works) for the first time, this catalogue provides a fascinating insight into the scope and diversity of this unique collection, which plays a key role in promoting British art and culture across the world.
