Made exclusively for Leicester Museum and Art Gallery, this cork backed ceramic coaster features a design from William De Morgan tiles.
William De Morgan (1839–1917) was a principal ceramic designer and maker in the Arts and Crafts Movement. De Morgan was influenced by the art of the Middle East and perhaps best known for his prolific production of painted tiles featuring patterns of flowers and leaves, animals and birds, ships and mythical creatures. This coaster range is based on original tiles made at Sands End Pottery in the 1880s.
