The University of Dundee began to acquire art in 1883 and received a major boost through generous donations from former students James Nicoll and James Lamb in the 1950s and 1960s. The collection mainly focuses on Scottish art from the nineteenth century onwards and work by staff and students of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.
