Tenby Museum & Art Gallery, established in 1878, is the oldest independent museum in Wales. It holds a diverse collection of art featuring internationally renowned artists such as John Piper (1903–1992), Kyffin Williams (1918–2006) and David Jones (1895–1974). The museum continues to collect works with local relevance, either in subject matter or through the artist’s biography. Among the most important works in the collection are paintings by Gwen John (1876–1939) and Augustus John (1878–1961), who both had strong connections with Tenby.
