Based in the town of St Andrews in Fife, the St Andrews Preservation Trust was formed in 1937 by the community to ensure the protection of historic buildings at risk of demolition and redevelopment. It has also guided the ongoing development of the ‘Auld Grey Toun’. The Trust maintains several properties, from the many doocots around the St Andrews area to the Trust Museum at 12 North Street and the Boase Wood, all of which are available to visit. St Andrews Heritage Museum and Garden is set in a charming seventeenth-century house and garden, a stone’s throw from the cathedral and castle. Focusing on the story of the town and its people from around 1800, the displays showcase social, working and domestic life in St Andrews through fascinating objects and artworks.
