Since 1862, The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow has housed a fine collection of silver, books, works of art and objects pertaining to the science of medicine. The collection contains portraits of presidents from the eighteenth century to the present day and a growing number of works by young and contemporary artists. Many of these works have been purchased from The Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts exhibitions, to which the College offers an annual art prize, thereby keeping alive the links between culture, the City and the College.
