Groam House Museum, in the Black Isle village of Rosemarkie, displays an internationally important collection of Pictish sculpture from the area, of which a magnificent symbol-bearing cross-slab, carved around the year 800, is the centrepiece. The family of George Bain, a leading figure in modern Celtic art, donated his artwork and archive to Groam House Museum in 1998. His landscapes and portraits form the bulk of the oil painting collection.
