Its collection of Scottish art stretches from 1850 to the present day by artists including Francis Cadell, George Leslie Hunter, Samuel Peploe, John Bellany, William Crosbie, John Houston, Elizabeth V. Blackadder, Anne Redpath, Alexander Goudie and Joan Eardley. The artworks at Kilmardinny House comprise East Dunbartonshire Council's civic collection, most of which have been purchased as prize winners in the Annual Art Competition. The Auld Kirk in Kirkintilloch was built in 1644 as Saint Mary's Church, it is Category A listed. Most of its paintings are of a topographical nature relating to East Dunbartonshire.
