From Brueghel to Borland, Landseer to Lambie and from Guthrie to Gibb, Aberdeen Art Gallery’s collection spans over 700 years and includes a staggering range of works by artists, designers and makers. Designed in the neoclassical style by Alexander Marshall Mackenzie, the Gallery opened in 1885 and was extended in the 1920s by the original architect. Between 2015 and 2019 the Gallery underwent a once-in-a-lifetime redevelopment supported by Aberdeen City Council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, meaning more treasures can be on display and giving a better experience for visitors.
