The Museum’s fine art collection consists of over 6,000 works across all media. Works by talented amateur artists, especially those who served in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, feature significantly within the collection. A standout piece in the Royal Marines Collection is a striking portrait of a dog –Nell, Adopted by the Royal Marine Artillery in the Early 1880s. Nell is depicted wearing a silver collar adorned with miniature war medals, commemorating her role alongside the Royal Marine Artillery during the Egyptian campaign.
