This catalogue contains over 3,000 full colour images within 496 pages. The dimensions are 29.5 x 23.5 cm and the catalogues typically weigh between 1.8 - 2.8 kg.

This catalogue includes some 3,200 oil paintings held in public Blackpool, Blackburn and Darwen, as well as the cities of Lancaster and Preston. Lancashire’s extensive art collection was primarily born from the proceeds of its industrial past, and the philanthropy of local industrialists. It therefore tells the story of Lancashire life, its people and various industries. Paintings by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, Lucian Freud, Maggi Hambling, Dame Laura Knight, Sir Thomas Lawrence, George Romney, John Virtue and Johann Zoffany are among the works reproduced from 30 collections.
